Senior Counsel, Employment (Autonomous Vehicles)

Location: Mountain View, California (HQ), United States

Salary: $193,930–$291,150 base pay per year, plus annual performance bonus, equity, and benefits.

Develops Level 4 autonomous driving technology and a universal autonomy platform for robotaxis, logistics fleets, personal vehicles, and other mobility applications.

What you will do

• Lead the employment law function and advise on the full employee lifecycle, from recruiting through separation.
• Partner with People, Operations, and business leaders to develop legally sound employment policies, templates, programs, and training.
• Manage employment pre-litigation and litigation matters, including agency charges, discovery, motion practice, witness preparation, settlements, and trial or arbitration strategy.
• Advise on wage and hour compliance, drug testing, terminations, internal investigations, employee relations, leaves, accommodations, performance management, and contingent workers.
• Own the employment legal and operational strategy for international growth and mobility across the EU, Asia, and Canada.
• Support cross-functional matters involving compensation, privacy, immigration, and export control compliance.

Requirements

• 7+ years of combined law firm and in-house experience focused on employment law.
• Extensive experience with California employment law and membership in the California Bar.
• Strong legal judgment, business acumen, strategic thinking, and program management skills.
• Experience advising fast-paced organizations and working with cross-functional teams and senior leaders.
• Ability to draft polished legal and compliance documents for commercial, public, government, and other external audiences.
• Technical proficiency and comfort using modern tools, including AI.
