Senior Legal Counsel (AI)

Location: New York, United States; fully in-office five days per week near Madison Square Park

Salary: $200,000–$400,000 annual base salary, plus equity and benefits.

What you will do

• Lead end-to-end commercial contracting with enterprise customers, including MSAs, DPAs, security and privacy addenda, and order forms.
• Build the legal function from the ground up through templates, playbooks, approval workflows, and legal operations processes.
• Advise executives on corporate matters, entity governance, board materials, equity administration, and fundraising support.
• Own compliance and risk matters involving data privacy, security certifications, and emerging AI regulation.
• Advise on employment, vendor, and procurement matters while managing outside counsel relationships.
• Identify legal and regulatory risks as the company expands into new markets and customer segments.

Requirements

• J.D. and active bar admission; New York admission is preferred.
• Corporate law experience and hands-on commercial contract negotiation at an early-stage startup.
• 7+ years of legal experience combining law firm training and in-house work.
• Deep experience negotiating enterprise commercial agreements for SaaS or enterprise software.
• Working knowledge of GDPR, CCPA, SOC 2, data privacy, and security frameworks.
• Ability and willingness to work in person five days per week in the New York office.

Nice to have

• Experience with AI/ML legal and regulatory issues, including model risk and AI governance.
• Experience supporting venture financings, SAFEs, and board governance.
• Familiarity with contract lifecycle management tooling and legal operations.
