Compartment Integration Design Engineer (Automotive)

Location: Warren, Michigan, United States; hybrid with in-person reporting at least three times a week

What you will do

• Integrate engineering requirements with Architecture, Studio, SMT, Performance, Human Factors, Manufacturing, and other cross-functional partners.
• Develop and lead integrated technical solutions that resolve vehicle packaging issues while preserving design intent.
• Apply DFSS methods to manage tradeoffs across cost, mass, timing, assembly, variation, and other program requirements.
• Align package and Studio models with customer-facing targets for spaciousness, visibility, accommodation, storage, cargo, and access.
• Lead surface and integration forums, issue-resolution activities, packaging reviews, and technical escalations.
• Create NX models, space claims, digital and physical design surfaces, assessments, presentations, reports, and technical documentation.

Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Design, Engineering Technology, Technology, or a related field.
• At least 3 years of relevant experience in automotive engineering, vehicle integration, packaging, or a related area.
• Strong understanding of engineering theory, automotive design principles, complex system integration, and technical problem-solving.
• Proficiency with Siemens NX or Unigraphics CAD tools and familiarity with engineering specifications and manufacturing processes.
• Experience managing engineering deliverables, issue tracking, and program execution; strong communication and collaboration skills.
• Must be able to legally operate a motor vehicle regularly; immigration sponsorship is not available now or in the future.

Nice to have

• 5 or more years of relevant automotive engineering, vehicle integration, or packaging experience.
• DFSS certification or Green Belt or Black Belt qualification.
• Experience with bodyside development, glass run and barrel development, side closures, sealing, typical sections, or general arrangement development.
• Experience with CITs, packaging reviews, Agile ways of working, or Jira.
