Design and Development Engineering (12 Month Placement Scheme)

Location: Peterlee, County Durham, United Kingdom; onsite five days a week

Salary: £26,000 per year, plus share scheme, pension, and 25 days of annual leave plus bank holidays.

hirify.global manufactures construction and mining equipment, engines, industrial gas turbines, and diesel-electric locomotives. The Peterlee facility designs and manufactures Articulated Trucks for global export.

What you will do

• Work on live engineering projects in Machine Integration & Performance, System Design & Integration, or Machine Testing and Development.
• Integrate hirify.global Articulated Trucks with key technologies and data analytics.
• Apply deterministic design principles and develop knowledge of machine performance and subsystems.
• Support engineering problem-solving, development, testing, and validation activities.
• Work with experienced engineers while developing practical engineering skills in a real-world manufacturing environment.

Requirements

• Must be in the penultimate year of study, or enrolled in an integrated master’s programme, to complete the 12-month placement starting July 2027.
• Be on track to achieve at least a 2:2 honours degree.
• Study Agricultural, Electronics/Electrical, Computer Engineering, Mechanical, or Mechatronics Engineering.
• Demonstrate technical knowledge and practical application of engineering theory.
• Show sound decision-making, professionalism, enthusiasm for engineering, and strong planning and organisational skills.
• Work onsite at the Peterlee facility five days per week.

Hiring process
