Procurement Category Specialist

Location: Hybrid role based in Sydney or Melbourne, Australia

What you will do

• Support portfolio strategies and lead category development, sourcing strategies, RFX processes, contract negotiations, and contract management for defined sub-categories.
• Manage supplier relationships and performance, including monitoring contractual compliance and addressing discrepancies.
• Drive continuous improvement initiatives to reduce costs and improve operational efficiency.
• Partner with internal stakeholders to understand requirements, guide procurement decisions, and promote Procurement Policy compliance.
• Conduct market research, spend analysis, and tail spend management to identify trends, risks, and optimisation opportunities.
• Integrate environmental and social considerations into sustainable procurement decisions.

Requirements

• At least 3 years of experience in category management, sourcing, or procurement.
• Experience developing and implementing commercial strategies.
• Knowledge of procurement practices, contract negotiations, supplier management, and e-purchasing platforms.
• Strong analytical, problem-solving, communication, stakeholder management, and prioritisation skills.
• Ability to interpret complex spend data and collaborate with stakeholders including Legal, Risk and Compliance, and Finance.
• Highly regarded: Coupa experience, tertiary qualifications in Business, Commerce, Law, or a related field, and CIPS membership.

Nice to have

• Experience in Construction and Fitout, Capital Equipment, Marketing, Maintenance Repairs and Operations, Corporate Services, or Packaging and Consumables.
