Purchasing Agent (Manufacturing)

Location: Gladstone, Virginia, United States; onsite at Riverville Paper Mill

Salary: $78,000–$98,000 per year

What you will do

• Purchase materials, equipment, supplies, and services required for continuous mill operations.
• Review requisitions and specifications, request quotations, analyze proposals, and select primary and secondary vendors.
• Issue purchase orders, develop contracts and blanket purchase orders, and expedite material and service delivery.
• Monitor vendor performance, conduct annual reviews, and support supplier quality, delivery, and cost objectives.
• Negotiate strategic supply and service agreements and identify documented cost savings.
• Coordinate with accounts payable and mill customers to support accurate payments and optimal material inventory levels.

Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree in Business or equivalent procurement experience.
• At least five years of experience in an industrial or manufacturing environment, preferably in purchasing.
• Certified Professional in Supply Management (CPSM), Certified Supply Chain Professional (CSCP), and Certified Supply Chain Manager (CSCM) certifications.
• Strong project management, negotiation, vendor analysis, evaluation, organization, and problem-solving skills.
• Working knowledge of Microsoft Word, Excel, Outlook, AS 400, purchasing software, ISO 9002 principles, and applicable purchasing law.
• Ability to travel as necessary and hold a valid U.S. driver’s license.
