Purchasing Specialist (Manufacturing)

Location: Norristown, Pennsylvania, United States. On-site in a manufacturing environment.

What you will do

• Manage purchasing for raw materials, components, packaging, supplies, MRO materials, equipment, and services supporting manufacturing operations.
• Negotiate supplier pricing, discounts, payment terms, lead times, freight, minimum order quantities, and other commercial conditions.
• Source and evaluate suppliers, compare quotations, qualify new vendors, and identify cost-saving and alternate-sourcing opportunities.
• Prepare, issue, track, expedite, modify, and reconcile purchase orders according to production and inventory requirements.
• Maintain inventory levels and reorder-point processes for critical MRO and operational items while preventing shortages and excess stock.
• Work with Production, Maintenance, Quality, Supply Chain, Finance, and suppliers to resolve quality, delivery, availability, and invoice discrepancies.

Requirements

• 3+ years of purchasing, procurement, sourcing, or buyer experience, preferably in manufacturing.
• Experience negotiating supplier pricing and commercial terms and purchasing MRO materials, parts, supplies, or services.
• Working knowledge of purchase orders, inventory management, supplier management, lead times, reorder points, and manufacturing supply requirements.
• Experience with ERP, MRP, or inventory management systems; Fishbowl experience is a plus.
• Proficiency with Microsoft Office, particularly Excel, with strong analytical, organizational, negotiation, communication, and problem-solving skills.
• Bachelor’s degree in Supply Chain, Business, Operations, or a related field is preferred; equivalent relevant experience may be considered.
