Sr Mechanical Engineer (Semiconductor)

What you will do

• Sustain RAPID legacy systems that remain in high-volume manufacturing and address component obsolescence.
• Design, fabricate, test, and characterize opto-mechanical modules, precision mechanisms, mechanical packaging, racks, chassis, and mechatronic systems.
• Take projects from requirements specification, feasibility studies, analysis, and conceptual design through detailed design, procurement, testing, integration, and manufacturing handoff.
• Perform tolerance analysis, GD&T, error budgeting, finite element, thermal, CFD, modal, stress-relaxation, and thermo-elastic analyses.
• Develop vendor relationships covering component fabrication, manufacturing-process transfer, and qualification.
• Collaborate with engineering, manufacturing, and new product introduction teams to resolve issues throughout product phases.

Requirements

• Onsite work in Milpitas, California, USA.
• Doctorate with 0 years of related experience, or a master’s degree with 3 years of related experience, or a bachelor’s degree with 5 years of related experience.
• Strong understanding of physics and mechanics, mechanical design, testing, and troubleshooting.
• Proficiency in 3D solid-modeling CAD; ProE/Creo is preferred.
• Knowledge of mechanical manufacturing processes such as machining, sheet-metal fabrication, and welding.
• Strong communication, interpersonal, and teamwork skills.

Nice to have

• Experience with precision mechanisms, ultra-high-vacuum systems, opto-mechanical design, vibration isolation, and electronic packaging.
