Senior Mechanical Engineer (Electronics)

Location: United States; nearest major market San Francisco and nearest secondary market Oakland. The role includes plant, manufacturing facility, facility expansion, commissioning, and other in-person industrial activities.

Base salary: $95,406–$143,108 per year, plus a performance-related bonus plan.

What you will do

• Lead the design, analysis, development, testing, validation, and production implementation of mechanical systems and components.
• Apply advanced engineering principles to solve technical problems and improve product performance, quality, cost efficiency, and production reliability.
• Provide technical leadership and mentorship to junior engineers and cross-functional teams.
• Collaborate with manufacturing, quality, supply chain, and other production stakeholders to implement designs.
• Lead root cause analysis and corrective actions, and contribute to continuous improvement, intellectual property, technical standards, and engineering best practices.
• Review P&IDs, equipment layouts, utility and mechanical drawings, and support facility expansions, renovations, capital projects, utility tie-ins, shutdown planning, and commissioning.

Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering or a related field with 11+ years of relevant experience, or a master’s degree with 7+ years of relevant experience.
• Advanced knowledge of mechanical design, materials, manufacturing processes, manufacturing environments, and plant operations.
• Experience leading technical projects and influencing outcomes in cross-functional production or industrial settings.
• Proficiency with CAD and engineering analysis tools, including SolidWorks, FEA, AutoCAD, and simulation tools.
• Strong analytical, communication, and problem-solving skills, plus knowledge of GD&T, machining tolerances, and tooling such as lathes and CNC equipment.
• Experience with plant utilities such as HVAC, chilled water, steam, compressed air, nitrogen, vacuum, exhaust, scrubbers, ventilation, and process piping is advantageous.

Nice to have

• Experience in chemical, specialty chemical, pharmaceutical, semiconductor, laboratory, pilot plant, or manufacturing facility environments.
• Knowledge of ASTM and ASME standards.
