Principal Mechanical Engineer (Electronic Packaging)

Location: Syracuse, New York, United States. Onsite role. Access to ITAR products and related technical data is restricted to US Citizens and US Permanent Residents.

Salary: $126,599–$222,640 per year, with a possible annual or quarterly company bonus.

What you will do

• Lead assigned product design teams developing current and next-generation military and space-based products.
• Perform complex mechanical and electronic packaging analyses, including thermal and structural analysis, and recommend design concepts.
• Review customer specifications, develop engineering statements of work, and present technical design reviews to internal and customer stakeholders.
• Develop qualification plans and conduct testing to validate new designs, materials, and manufacturing processes.
• Provide technical leadership and mentoring to mechanical engineers, designers, and drafting personnel.
• Support technology roadmaps, product improvement, cost reduction, vendor evaluation, and the development of mechanical standards.

Requirements

• Bachelor's degree in engineering; a master's degree is preferred.
• 15 years of relevant experience in mechanical engineering and electronic packaging.
• Experience with military and commercial equipment across ground, shipborne, airborne, and space applications.
• Expertise with 3D modeling and FEA packages, thermal and structural analysis, and complex mechanical or electro-mechanical design.
• Extensive experience with Geometric Dimensioning and Tolerancing (GD&T), including collaboration with vendors.
• Must comply with US export control requirements; access to ITAR products and technical data is restricted to US Citizens and US Permanent Residents.
