TL;DR
Geospatial Analyst II (Wildfire Response) (ArcGIS/Python): Developing geospatial and data-driven solutions for wildfire response and natural resource management with an accent on advanced spatial analysis, workflow automation, and emergency management applications. Focus on processing complex tabular, vector, and raster data, building ArcGIS platforms and Azure workflows, and communicating operational insights through visualizations and reports.

Location: College Station, Texas, United States

What you will do

  • Develop data-driven geospatial solutions for wildfire response and resource management.
  • Conduct advanced geospatial analyses addressing wildfire and natural resource challenges.
  • Automate critical workflows and streamline data flows to improve operational efficiency and response times.
  • Compile, process, and manage complex tabular, vector, and raster datasets.
  • Communicate insights through reports, visualizations, dashboards, and interactive applications.
  • Participate in the agency’s geospatial working group and occasionally support emergency response operations, including extended hours and weekends when requested.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in forestry, natural resources, spatial sciences, emergency management, or a related field.
  • At least four years of experience in geospatial analysis, statistical analysis, or a similar area; an advanced degree may substitute for experience.
  • Strong geospatial data management, workflow design, data visualization, analytical, and problem-solving skills.
  • Proficiency with ArcGIS Pro, ArcGIS Online, Survey123, Field Maps, Experience Builder, and Operations Dashboard.
  • Strong Python programming skills, working knowledge of relational databases, and familiarity with Azure Functions and Logic Apps.
  • Ability to work independently, manage projects, communicate with technical and non-technical audiences, and collaborate effectively.

Nice to have

  • Graduate degree in forestry, natural resources, spatial sciences, emergency management, or a related field.
  • Experience or interest in forestry, wildfire science, fire ecology, natural resources, or emergency management.
  • Experience with Power BI, Power Automate, Azure, database management, additional programming languages, statistical tools, or machine learning.
