Mechanical Design Engineer (Creo)

Location: Belvidere, Illinois, USA; office and shop environment

Salary: $67,700–$101,600 USD annually, plus eligibility for short-term and long-term variable incentives.

What you will do

• Complete mechanical equipment designs on schedule and within estimated hours and material costs.
• Research and order parts, reuse applicable drawings, define project scope, and support projects through completion.
• Create practical equipment designs, engineering drawings, composite drawings, general arrangement drawings, conduit schedules, and conduit routing isometrics.
• Review engineering drawing packages, dimensions, parts, functionality, weld information, shop write-ups, and production sequences.
• Perform calculations and analysis related to equipment design and provide technical support during production, testing, quoting, and customer approvals.
• Coordinate mechanical designs with electrical engineers and provide assistance and training to detailers.

Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering, Industrial Engineering, Engineering Technology, or Manufacturing Engineering is highly desirable.
• Required: above-average computer literacy with the latest version of Creo or equivalent 3D modeling software.
• Experience with assemblies and subassembly structures, engineering drawings, weld symbols, and production documentation.
• Familiarity with Microsoft Office and ERP systems used in project workflows.
• Ability to communicate effectively, work independently, manage multiple tasks, and maintain accuracy and attention to detail.
• Ability to work in the Belvidere office and shop environment; willingness to travel internationally when necessary, on a minimal basis.

Nice to have

• Recent AutoCAD experience.
• Knowledge of airflow, pressure drops, sound attenuation, weights, center of gravity, piping flows and restrictions, beam deflections, tank sizing, and wind loading.
• General knowledge of diesel and natural-gas engines.
• Ability to climb onto and down from equipment and ladders when necessary.
