Hardware Lead Engineer (Hyperscale)

Location: Santa Clara, California; primarily in-office

Annual base salary: $217,000–$326,000 USD, with possible incentive pay and/or equity.

What you will do

• Lead comprehensive x86 hardware qualification cycles covering electrical, signal integrity, and protocol testing.
• Drive production readiness for custom storage subsystems with operations, manufacturing test, and software diagnostics teams.
• Perform root-cause analysis for complex hardware failures and field escalations using oscilloscopes and bus analyzers.
• Evaluate CPU subsystems, DDR4/5 memory, PCIe devices, BMCs, and power distribution modules to improve system efficiency and performance.
• Automate validation and stress-testing workflows using tools such as PTU, Mprime, and Iometer.
• Mentor engineering peers and improve qualification and system-hardening practices.

Requirements

• Advanced expertise in x86 architectures and enterprise storage systems.
• Experience with NVMe, power supplies, PWM design, and high-speed interfaces including PCIe, SAS/SATA, UPI, I2C/I3C, and SPI.
• Ability to design, automate, and execute hardware qualification frameworks using Python or Bash.
• Hands-on experience analyzing power regulators, cooling systems, and high-speed signal integrity with oscilloscopes and protocol analyzers.
• Demonstrated ability to lead technical projects independently, collaborate across engineering and manufacturing, and mentor team members.
• Ability to work from the Santa Clara office in accordance with hirify.global’s in-office policy.
