Senior Software Engineer - Orchestration (Python/Rust)

What you will do

• Design and implement features and performance improvements for discovery APIs, catalogs, lineage, run history, and other metadata services.
• Build, maintain, test, and optimize backend services and reusable components.
• Write technical designs, explain trade-offs, review designs and pull requests, and raise code quality standards.
• Improve test coverage, reduce technical debt, troubleshoot production issues, and contribute to incident post-mortems and mitigation plans.
• Plan and execute feature work, participate in on-call rotations, and collaborate with product managers, QE, customer support, and engineering peers.
• Use AI coding assistants and conversational AI to accelerate development and create or review SDLC artifacts.

Requirements

• 5+ years of software industry experience solving complex engineering problems and building backend services from the ground up.
• Experience with distributed systems, cloud computing, design, code reviews, troubleshooting, and testing.
• Proficiency in a modern backend or systems language such as Python, Java, C++, or C#.
• Hands-on experience with AWS, GCP, or Azure and containerization with Docker and Kubernetes.
• Ability to independently lead feature-level design work and explain technical trade-offs clearly.
• Fluency with AI code assistants, coding agents, and conversational AI for software development work.

Nice to have

• Experience with continuous integration tools such as BuildKite and observability tools such as Datadog or Grafana.
• Experience with ETL, ELT, cloud data platforms, metadata, catalogs, lineage, or discovery systems.
• Experience with GraphQL APIs and high-throughput, multi-tenant data services.
• Familiarity with analytics engineering workflows and the dbt ecosystem.
