Associate Utility Designer (Electrical)

Location: Berlin, Connecticut, with field work in Connecticut and Western Massachusetts

Salary: $76,380–$84,870 annually, plus potential incentive

What you will do

• Develop detailed engineering designs, conceptual layouts, sketches, and final design packages for substation projects.
• Coordinate designs with engineers, construction personnel, other design disciplines, and outside vendors.
• Perform field visits to verify site conditions, resolve field issues, and confirm as-built documentation.
• Prepare technical calculations, bills of materials, supporting documents, and design-change approvals.
• Guide design drafters and review vendor projects and construction-related equipment, materials, and services.
• Support engineering license submittals, department standards, and emergency storm-response assignments.

Requirements

• Must work in the Berlin, Connecticut area and perform field visits in Connecticut and Western Massachusetts.

• Associate degree in electronic engineering technology or two to four years of directly related electrical experience.
• Working knowledge of electrical wiring, one-line and three-line diagrams, schematics, electrical theory, technical mathematics, and basic science.
• Ability to apply design and drafting standards, industry codes, and procedures and communicate effectively in writing and verbally.
• Valid driver's license and ability to perform storm-duty assignments.

Nice to have

• Working knowledge of AutoCAD.
