Senior Mobile Software Architect

Location: Remote work is permitted from an hirify.global-supported location within the United States; onsite work is available at the Washington, D.C. facility, with hybrid arrangements also possible. Travel to other locations may be required.

Salary: $184,758.33–$205,933.12 USD annually, plus benefits.

Public multimedia organization producing news, information, and music programming in partnership with independent public radio stations.

What you will do

• Define unified architectural patterns and modular systems across native iOS, Android, and cross-platform integrations.
• Design scalable personalization, content delivery, media playback, and downstream data pipelines for high-traffic digital properties and member station networks.
• Lead technology strategy, technical evaluations, architectural standards, and multi-team engineering initiatives.
• Review system designs, security protocols, code, deployment processes, and operational workflows.
• Architect solutions for privacy compliance, CDN caching, cloud cost optimization, and high availability.
• Participate in QA, UAT, and production deployments, on-call incident response, coding, mentoring, onboarding, and interviews.

Requirements

• 7+ years of progressive software engineering experience, including architecture leadership across complex multi-team platforms.
• Deep expertise in native mobile architecture for iOS and Android with Swift, Kotlin, Java, or Objective-C.
• Experience designing high-traffic distributed systems, RESTful or GraphQL APIs, and client-server integrations.
• Experience with media playback, streaming protocols, CDN configuration, and AWS or GCP cloud infrastructure.
• Hands-on knowledge of GDPR or CPRA compliance, cloud cost optimization, Git, CI/CD pipelines, and automated testing.
• Bachelor’s degree in a relevant field or equivalent practical experience.

Nice to have

• Experience with Go or PHP in event-driven or microservice architectures.
• Experience optimizing edge media caches, working with relational databases and SQL, or contributing to open-source software.
