Vice President of Operations (Logistics)

Location: Chicago, IL; hybrid schedule with regular travel to organizational locations, partner sites, and throughout the 13-county service area.

What you will do

• Develop and execute multi-year operational strategies across warehouse, inventory, centers, production, transportation, logistics, safety, facilities, and distribution.
• Lead operational directors and managers responsible for warehouse and inventory, centers and production, transportation, safety, and regional operations.
• Optimize food flow, inventory availability, warehouse capacity, transportation routes, fleet utilization, production capabilities, and service responsiveness.
• Ensure safe, compliant, and inspection-ready operations aligned with OSHA, DOT, USDA, food safety, and workplace safety requirements.
• Manage performance metrics, budgets, capital investments, technology improvements, process optimization, and business continuity initiatives.
• Build leadership capability through coaching, succession planning, workforce development, and cross-functional collaboration.

Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree in supply chain management, logistics, operations management, business administration, food systems, or a related field; a master’s degree is preferred.
• 10–15 years of progressive leadership experience in operations, logistics, warehousing, inventory, production, transportation, distribution, supply chain, food distribution, manufacturing, or a related environment.
• At least five years leading managers, directors, or multiple operational functions in a complex or multi-site environment.
• Experience with warehouse operations, inventory controls, transportation, facilities, food safety, workplace safety, production, distribution, logistics, budgets, performance metrics, and continuous improvement.
• Knowledge of Lean, Six Sigma, process optimization, warehouse automation, transportation optimization, operational technology, ERP, or WMS is preferred.
• Depehirify.globalble transportation and flexibility to travel locally throughout the organization’s service area, including occasional nights and weekends.
