Principal Software Engineer (MCP & A2A)

What you will do

• Design and build MCP servers, clients, schemas, transports, authentication, versioning, and the internal MCP registry.
• Build the A2A communication layer for agent discovery, capability advertisement, delegation, handoff, trust boundaries, and failure handling.
• Develop the agentic workflow runtime, including planning loops, tool calls, state and context management, memory, human checkpoints, retries, and termination conditions.
• Build evaluation and observability tooling for tracing agent hops and tool calls, regression gates, cost monitoring, and latency instrumentation.
• Engineer security controls such as tool sandboxing, least-privilege access, prompt-injection defenses, and tool-abuse protection.
• Lead complex infrastructure decisions and collaborate through code reviews, design reviews, and pairing.

Requirements

• 12+ years of professional software engineering experience with continued hands-on coding.
• Deep hands-on experience designing and shipping MCP servers and clients.
• Deep experience with A2A or equivalent multi-agent communication patterns, including delegation, handoff, and failure handling.
• Proficiency in Java and/or TypeScript/Node.
• Experience operating multi-step agentic workflows in production under reliability, latency, and cost constraints.
• Experience building platform or infrastructure products used by other engineers, along with strong written and verbal communication skills.

Nice to have

• Contributions to MCP or A2A specifications or open-source agent orchestration projects.
• Previous Principal or Distinguished Engineer experience in agent or platform infrastructure.
• Experience with agent security, adversarial testing, conference talks, or published technical work on MCP, A2A, or agent orchestration.
