Staff Software Engineer, Programmatic Ads

Location: Hybrid; monthly in-office collaboration required within commuting distance of the Seattle, San Francisco, Palo Alto, or New York City offices. This position is not eligible for relocation assistance.

What you will do

• Lead one or two integrations with external demand-side and supply-side partners through OpenRTB.
• Translate business requirements into technical solutions in collaboration with product managers, data scientists, cross-functional teams, and external partners.
• Drive the full software development lifecycle from ideation and technical design through prototyping, development, and release.
• Optimize programmatic advertising products for latency, conversion, engagement, and fill rate.
• Use AI to accelerate system design, execution, and decision-making while validating output quality and correctness.
• Mentor junior engineers and maintain high standards for technical excellence and production quality.

Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree in computer science, a related field, or equivalent experience.
• 7+ years of hands-on backend software engineering experience with large-scale distributed systems.
• Experience with an ad-serving platform, ad exchange, supply-side platform, or demand-side platform.
• Strong communication, stakeholder alignment, analytical, and problem-solving skills.
• Experience critically evaluating and verifying AI-assisted work through testing, source-checking, data validation, or peer review.
• Ability to transform engineering workflows through AI adoption, tooling, enablement, change leadership, and measurable improvements.
