Software Engineer, Ads Pangle - USDS (AdTech)

Location: San Jose, United States; fully in-person schedule up to 5 days a week

Salary: $136,800–$259,200 annually, plus potential discretionary bonuses, incentives, and restricted stock units.

What you will do

• Design and implement highly available ad-serving systems for large-scale traffic with low latency.
• Develop and optimize ad delivery strategies across multiple placements to improve monetization efficiency.
• Improve algorithms and systems for ad recall, ranking, bidding, and traffic allocation.
• Use large-scale advertising data to enhance user- and ad-level monitoring systems.
• Build analytical and optimization tools for campaign performance.
• Collaborate with internal and external stakeholders, lead innovation efforts, and drive engineering initiatives.

Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree in computer science or a related technical discipline.
• At least 1 year of professional experience with modern software technologies.
• Experience with large-scale backend systems and data pipelines.
• Strong foundations in algorithms, data structures, software design, coding, and problem-solving.
• Strong programming skills in C++ or Go, including debugging and performance optimization.
• Ability to work on-site in San Jose and collaborate effectively across teams.

Nice to have

• Experience building or maintaining large-scale advertising infrastructure or similar high-throughput, low-latency systems.
• Strong business and data intuition, ownership, independent execution, and a passion for complex problems and innovation.
