Staff Software Engineer (Event Contracts)

Location: Menlo Park, California or New York, New York; in-person attendance required at least 3 days per week

Base pay range: $1–$1 USD, depending on compensation zone and work location. Additional bonus, equity, and benefits may apply.

What you will do

• Own the technical roadmap for core Prediction Markets backend systems, identify gaps, set priorities, and drive execution.
• Design and build highly scalable, low-latency backend services for real-time trading and event resolution.
• Lead engineering excellence initiatives covering code quality, reliability, observability, and system resilience.
• Partner with product, platform, engineering leadership, and cross-functional teams to align technical direction with business goals.
• Mentor engineers, contribute to hiring and onboarding, and help shape the engineering culture as the team scales.

Requirements

• 10+ years of backend engineering experience, with Staff Engineer or equivalent IC6-level scope.
• Experience leading large-scale distributed systems designed for high availability, performance, and reliability.
• Experience with or genuine interest in prediction markets, sports betting, fantasy sports, trading platforms, or financial exchange systems.
• Strong technical leadership and experience driving engineering excellence roadmaps without formal authority.
• Excellent communication and collaboration skills across product, leadership, and engineering stakeholders.
• Experience building B2C products for millions of end users.
