R&D Scientist II AMEA Product Development (Litter)

Location: Pleasanton, California, USA; hybrid work with 2 days in the office and 3 days from home. Meetings outside standard business hours may be required once or twice per week to support stakeholders in Australia, China, and other Asia-Pacific locations.

Salary range: $75,800–$141,700 (Zone C), $83,400–$155,900 (Zone B), or $90,900–$170,100 (Zone A) annually, depending on work location. The role is also eligible for incentive plans.

What you will do

• Lead litter product and process development projects from concept through commercialization using technical workplans and risk-based decision-making.
• Design experiments, performance testing, material qualification, and validation programs; analyze results and recommend risk mitigation plans.
• Translate consumer, cat, customer, and business needs into technical requirements and product specifications.
• Coordinate innovation, product maintenance, qualification, supply continuity, and cost optimization activities for the AMEA litter category.
• Lead technical transfer, scale-up, plant trials, start-up, and implementation with internal and external manufacturing partners.
• Collaborate with R&D, Marketing, Insights, Supply Chain, Engineering, Procurement, Quality, Regulatory, Packaging, suppliers, and manufacturers.

Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree in Chemical Engineering, Chemistry, Materials Science, Biochemistry, or a related scientific or engineering discipline.
• At least three years of product or process development experience, preferably in consumer products, formulation development, materials, or manufacturing.
• Experience leading multiple technical projects and working with cross-functional partners.
• Experience with experimental design, data analysis, technical risk assessment, scale-up, and commercialization.
• Ability to work from the Pleasanton, California office two days per week in a hybrid schedule.
• Availability to travel to company sites, suppliers, manufacturing plants, and external manufacturing partners as needed.
