Head of IT (AI)

Location: London, hybrid

Salary: £60,000–£70,000 per year, depending on experience and qualifications.

What you will do

• Own Microsoft 365, Entra ID, identity and access controls, privileged accounts, conditional access, and SSO/SCIM across the SaaS estate.
• Manage the lifecycle of Windows and macOS laptops and mobile devices, including procurement, Intune enrolment, patching, encryption, tracking, secure disposal, and ownership transfer.
• Own joiner, mover, and leaver processes for employees and contractors, ensuring timely access provisioning, changes, and removal.
• Run IT for the London and Gold Coast offices, including networks, Wi-Fi, firewalls, physical access, meeting rooms, suppliers, and support for New York and Gold Coast IT contacts.
• Manage the support queue, SLAs, satisfaction surveys, first-line IT support development, and Slack-based support automation.
• Translate security and compliance controls into operational practices, maintain audit evidence, govern SaaS procurement, and automate IT workflows using AI tools and Slack.

Requirements

• At least 5 years of IT operations experience, including 2 or more years in a lead or management role within a multi-office or largely remote company.
• Hands-on experience with at least two of ISO 27001, ISO 27017, ISO 27018, Cyber Essentials Plus, Defence Cyber Certification, SOC 2, or IRAP is essential.
• Current administration experience with Microsoft 365, Entra ID, conditional access, Intune, Defender, Exchange, SharePoint governance, and mixed macOS/Windows MDM fleets.
• Practical office networking and firewall administration experience, including rule reviews and change control.
• Experience managing renewals, suppliers, purchasing processes, IT policies, and at least one direct report.
• Willingness to undergo national security vetting to at least BPSS level.

Nice to have

• Experience with AWS, Azure, Google Cloud account structures, Cloudflare, domain registrars, and certificate management.
• Experience deploying LLM-based IT support assistants, scheduled tasks, MCP connectors, Slack Workflow Builder, or other low-code automation.
• Exposure to UK defence, Australian government, US federal, or customer security due-diligence requirements.
• Microsoft 365/Azure administrator certifications, CompTIA Security+, or equivalent qualifications.
• Experience supporting a company through rapid growth or organisational doubling.
