TL;DR
Senior Engineer, Warehouse Automation and Controls (Warehouse Automation/Controls): Designing and delivering complex automation systems for fulfillment infrastructure with an accent on material handling, industrial controls, commissioning, and operational reliability. Focus on integrating conveyors, PLCs, robotics, IoT dashboards, and digital twins while solving downtime, safety, performance, and continuous-improvement challenges across warehouse operations.

Location: Arlington, TX or Secaucus, NJ; frequent on-site installation, construction, and commissioning oversight required

Base salary: $160,000–$180,000 per year

What you will do

  • Lead multiple warehouse automation projects from technical specification through commissioning and operational handover.
  • Configure automation lines, evaluate technologies, and develop specifications for material handling, conveyors, scanners, robotics, and integrated equipment.
  • Manage vendors, contractors, procurement, budgets, timelines, installation, testing, operator training, and performance validation.
  • Troubleshoot PLCs, I/O, communications cards, sensors, embedded systems, VFDs, servo systems, HMIs, and industrial networks.
  • Establish standards for PLC version control, backups, as-built documentation, SOPs, safety, quality, and equipment performance.
  • Investigate downtime and recurring faults, perform root-cause analysis, and implement lean continuous-improvement initiatives using tools such as FMEA, IoT dashboards, and digital twins.

Requirements

  • Four-year degree in Electrical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Mechatronics, Controls, or equivalent relevant experience.
  • 8+ years of experience in manufacturing, warehouse, fulfillment, or industrial environments, including large-scale equipment and systems.
  • 5+ years designing, programming, and troubleshooting industrial control systems.
  • Proficiency in structured text and at least one of C, C++, Python, or MATLAB/Simulink.
  • Experience with material handling systems, automation equipment, industrial networks, VFDs, servo systems, HMIs, AutoCAD or equivalent design tools, and simulation software.
  • Ability to work flexible shifts, nights, weekends, and approximately 25% travel as business needs require.

Nice to have

  • PMP, PRINCE2, TPM, Kaizen, or Lean Manufacturing certification.
  • Experience with fulfillment centers, warehouse automation, reverse logistics, digitalization, AI-enabled operational improvements, and ML/AI technologies.
