Senior Staff Software Engineer (AI)

What you will do

• Lead the architecture and development of scalable, AI-powered systems across multiple platforms and product lines.
• Guide investments in AI platforms, model lifecycle management, and responsible AI usage.
• Set strategic technical direction with engineering and product leaders.
• Establish engineering practices covering design, security, performance, and reliability.
• Evaluate emerging technologies, including LLMs, autonomous systems, and next-generation development tools.
• Mentor senior and staff engineers and lead cross-functional initiatives with measurable business outcomes.

Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related field; a Master’s degree is preferred.
• 10+ years of software engineering experience, including 3+ years leading cross-platform architecture.
• Experience building AI-enhanced, cloud-native systems.
• Strong understanding of distributed systems, performance optimization, and system reliability.
• Proven experience mentoring engineers and driving architectural direction across teams.
• Ability to work from the Durham, North Carolina office.

Nice to have

• Experience with large-scale systems using LLMs, generative AI, or ML pipelines.
• Certifications in AWS, GCP, or related architecture and AI tools.
• Master’s degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related field.
