Principal Operations Engineer, Network (AI)

Location: Delaware, United States — remote; approximately 50%–75% travel across the data-center fleet.

Salary: $225,000–$270,000 annually

What you will do

• Serve as the senior technical authority for operational network infrastructure, including switches, routers, cabling, copper, fiber, and optics.
• Lead site assessments, operational audits, and technical-readiness activities before data-center activation.
• Review network platforms and integration designs from an operational perspective and provide feedback to relevant teams.
• Author, approve, and execute high-risk network MOPs and change records in live production environments.
• Lead fleet-wide root-cause analysis for significant network disruptions through resolution.
• Coordinate with network operations, engineering, compute operations, facilities, supply chain, customer-facing teams, OEMs, ODMs, and service vendors.

Requirements

• Extensive experience operating mission-critical network topologies at site, campus, or fleet scale.
• Proficiency in IP network operations and optical networking.
• Strong knowledge of TCP/IP and routing protocols, including OSPF, IS-IS, BGP, and MPLS.
• Experience supporting physical network infrastructure and related hardware.
• Experience authoring and executing high-risk network MOPs and leading root-cause analysis for major network events.
• Strong written communication, vendor accountability, and technical teaching skills.

Nice to have

• Experience with hyperscale or large HPC fleets supporting thousands of endpoints.
• Experience with Linux, hardware-management tooling, new-site commissioning, and fleet-scale scripting.
