AI Learning Experience Designer

Location: Hybrid role based in New York, NY or Seattle, WA, United States

What you will do

• Design branching scenarios, role-play conversations, and procedural or technical simulations based on adult learning principles and real workplace situations.
• Own prompt engineering, configuration, and production workflows for AI-driven simulations and adaptive learning experiences.
• Partner with Product and Engineering as the L&D liaison, writing requirements, user stories, and acceptance criteria for simulation tooling.
• Collaborate with facilitators and subject-matter experts to test, refine, and prepare simulations for live delivery.
• Define simulation success metrics, analyze learning and performance data, and report impact against business outcomes.
• Establish quality review processes and ensure AI-generated content meets accessibility, privacy, and security requirements.

Requirements

• 7+ years of experience in instructional design, learning experience design, or a related L&D role.
• Demonstrated experience using AI for learning design, content generation, prompt engineering, content transformation, and workflow optimization.
• Work samples or a portfolio showing AI-generated simulations, chatbots, branching scenarios, role-play conversations, assessments, or coaching activities.
• Experience partnering with Product and Engineering teams, translating learning needs into technical requirements, and communicating with technical and non-technical stakeholders.
• Experience with live facilitation or close collaboration with facilitators, plus strong instructional design, project management, and learning analytics skills.
• Working proficiency with an AI simulation or role-play platform, an authoring tool stack, an LMS, a CMS, and an Engineering project-tracking tool such as Jira.

Nice to have

• Bachelor’s degree in Instructional Design, Learning Experience Design, Educational Technology, or a related field; equivalent professional experience may substitute.
• Experience in a fast-paced or customer-facing organization.
• Familiarity with ADDIE, adult learning theory, scenario design, and branching logic.
