Senior Manufacturing Engineer (Aerospace)

Location: Torrance, California, with production support in New Mexico

What you will do

• Own sheet metal forming and welding processes, including cutting, bending, rolling, hydroforming, fit-up, welding, post-weld processing, and final inspection.
• Develop and qualify weld procedures, forming processes, fixtures, work instructions, and production flow for flight-quality metallic structures.
• Apply DFM/DFA, PFMEA, control plans, SPC, and root-cause analysis to improve yield, cycle time, cost, and process capability.
• Define dimensional inspection, visual weld inspection, and NDE strategies for formed and welded hardware.
• Partner with Design, Quality, Tooling, Automation, Controls, Operations, and suppliers on fixtures, robotic welding cells, materials, and producibility.
• Support equipment qualification, new product introduction, design changes, and production ramp in Torrance and New Mexico.

Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree in Manufacturing Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Welding Engineering, Materials Science, or a related field.
• 6–10+ years of manufacturing engineering experience in aerospace, defense, or high-reliability metallic fabrication.
• 3+ years of hands-on ownership of sheet metal forming and welding processes for flight or mission-critical hardware.
• Practical knowledge of brake, roll, stretch, hydroform, or equivalent forming methods and aerospace fusion welding processes.
• Proficiency with CAD, including SolidWorks or NX, GD&T, tolerance stack-up, and fixture concepting.
• Experience with process qualification, weld procedure development, distortion control, metrology, NDE, PFMEA, SPC, and clear work instructions.

Nice to have

• Experience with missile, rocket-motor, or aerospace structural metallic hardware.
• Experience with robotic or automated welding and forming cells.
• Experience with stainless steel, high-strength steels, nickel alloys, aluminum, or other aerospace alloys.
• Familiarity with AS9100, ITAR programs, energetic-materials facilities, and fast-paced defense or space production.
