Billing Coordinator (Infectious Disease)

Location: Chicago, Illinois, USA; hybrid attendance two days per week. Monday–Friday, 8:00am–4:30pm or 8:30am–5:00pm.

Salary: USD 20.22–26.29 per hour.

What you will do

• Investigate and verify benefits, manage prior authorizations, denials, appeals, and letters of medical necessity.
• Process charges, payments, adjustments, bills, invoices, and patient statements for clinic services.
• Research outstanding accounts receivable and follow up with insurers, patients, clients, and collection agencies.
• Reconcile payment and adjustment batches with reports and bank deposits.
• Prepare pre-collection letters, recommend write-offs, and refer eligible accounts to external collections.
• Provide professional customer service and collaborate with healthcare, finance, operations, and administrative teams.

Requirements

• High school diploma or equivalent.
• Three years of physician office or medical billing experience.
• Thorough understanding of insurance billing procedures, ICD-10, and CPT coding.
• Strong computer, data-entry, Microsoft Excel, and Microsoft Word skills.
• Clear written and verbal communication skills and the ability to work independently.
• Ability to follow HIPAA privacy standards and maintain patient confidentiality.

Nice to have

• Corporate Health or Occupational Health medical billing experience.
• CPC or Registered Medical Coder certification.
