Ophthalmic Assistant - Ophthalmology (Ophthalmic Testing)

Location: Glenview Outpatient clinic, 2701 Patriot Boulevard, Glenview, Illinois, United States. Full-time, Monday through Friday days with occasional Saturdays.

Salary: USD 25.81–38.72 per hour

What you will do

• Interview patients and document medical histories.
• Perform ophthalmic workups and specialized testing, including refraction, retinoscopy, lensometry, keratometry, tonometry, visual fields, OCT, IOL Master, fundus photography, and related examinations.
• Assist physicians with patient care, minor surgery, and clinical scribing.
• Communicate with patients, pharmacies, and physicians regarding follow-up care, procedures, symptoms, scheduling, and surgery coordination.
• Maintain and clean ophthalmic equipment and report deficiencies to management.

Requirements

• High school diploma or GED equivalent.
• Basic Life Support certification from the American Heart Association.
• Certified Ophthalmic Assistant certification through JCAHPO, or certification obtained within one year of hire; applicants with a Doctor of Medicine degree are exempt from the COA requirement.
• Zero to two years of relevant experience.
• Ability to work full-time, 40 hours per week, at the Glenview outpatient clinic.

Nice to have

• Two years of related experience or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
• Surgical assistance experience.
