Senior Electrical Design Engineer (Renewable Energy)

Location: Hybrid role based at the Blyth site, United Kingdom

hirify.global is recruiting for a renewable energy business delivering commercial, capital, and research projects involving offshore renewable energy systems.

What you will do

• Oversee the design, development, installation, commissioning, operation, and maintenance of electrical systems and equipment.
• Provide specialist electrical engineering support for renewable energy testing and research projects.
• Act as design authority for electrical hardware and perform technical reviews and approvals of reports, drawings, and procedures.
• Lead problem solving for complex engineering issues and manage multiple projects across time, quality, and cost requirements.
• Support tenders, budgets, customer engagement, supplier management, and stakeholder presentations.
• Mentor engineers and identify opportunities for innovation, continuous improvement, and asset enhancement.

Requirements

• Degree in a relevant engineering discipline and 5+ years of relevant experience.
• Chartered Engineer status or active progress toward chartership.
• Knowledge of electrical systems including substations, transformers, converters, switchgear, and protection systems.
• Experience with electrical testing, protection settings, power generation equipment, and design, installation, testing, and commissioning.
• Experience with MATLAB, Simulink, and EPLAN, plus detailed knowledge of BS7671 installation and testing standards.
• Analytical problem-solving, confident communication, sound decision-making, teamwork, and commitment to engineering processes and regulations.
