Senior Software Engineer (JVM)

What you will do

• Design, build, deploy, monitor, and operate JVM-based microservices, primarily using Java and Kotlin.
• Build high-throughput, low-latency systems for ingesting, processing, and serving large volumes of telemetry data.
• Develop event-driven streaming systems with Kafka, including partitioning, consumer groups, schema evolution, and idempotency.
• Apply asynchronous programming, backpressure, efficient I/O, memory management, concurrency, and garbage-collection tuning.
• Instrument services with metrics, logs, and traces; define SLIs and SLOs; and participate in on-call, incident response, and postmortems.
• Collaborate across product and architecture teams, mentor peers, review designs and code, and improve CI/CD, testing, tooling, and infrastructure automation.

Requirements

• Strong experience building and operating production-grade backend services on the JVM using Java and/or Kotlin.
• Solid understanding of distributed systems, including consistency, partitioning, replication, fault tolerance, and microservice design.
• Hands-on experience with asynchronous and reactive programming, such as CompletableFuture, Project Reactor, RxJava, or Kotlin coroutines.
• Experience with Kafka or similar streaming technologies, REST/gRPC APIs, service-to-service communication, and resilience patterns.
• Practical experience with containers, Kubernetes, CI/CD pipelines, production monitoring, alerting, and operational automation.
• Strong communication skills, including design documentation and cross-functional collaboration.

Nice to have

• JVM performance profiling and tuning experience with JFR, async-profiler, or JMH.
• Experience with schema registries, Avro, Protobuf, Kafka Streams, or Flink.
• Familiarity with Cassandra, Elasticsearch, Redis, or other data stores used in observability systems.
• Experience with OpenTelemetry or technical mentorship in reliability and performance initiatives.
