AI Engineer (Python)

What you will do

• Design, build, and maintain production-grade Python services, libraries, APIs, and developer tools.
• Create shared libraries, service templates, and engineering standards for multiple internal teams.
• Build AI-enabled document search and conversational solutions using Retrieval-Augmented Generation.
• Develop CI/CD pipelines and cloud-native delivery practices with Docker, Kubernetes, and Terraform.
• Improve platform performance, scalability, reliability, observability, monitoring, and alerting.
• Conduct code reviews, mentor engineers, and collaborate with engineering, product, and scientific stakeholders.

Requirements

• Senior-level software engineering experience with strong production-level Python expertise; equivalent Java experience may also be considered.
• Strong knowledge of modern Python practices, including packaging, dependency management, typing, asynchronous programming, and API development.
• Experience designing reusable libraries, service templates, or internal developer platforms used by multiple teams.
• Experience with automated testing, code quality, CI/CD, release engineering, Docker, Kubernetes, and Infrastructure as Code.
• Knowledge of observability, performance profiling, secure coding, vulnerability management, and software delivery security.
• Strong written and spoken English required, with the ability to communicate across technical and non-technical groups.

Nice to have

• Experience building internal platforms, developer tools, or products adopted by several engineering teams.
• Background in agriculture, life sciences, scientific computing, or regulated enterprise environments.
• Experience in distributed international engineering organisations and technical leadership or mentoring.
• Familiarity with AI/ML frameworks and software development tools.
