Safety Manager (Chemical Manufacturing)

Location: Covington, VA, United States; onsite work in an industrial manufacturing facility

What you will do

• Ensure compliance with health, safety, security, and environmental regulations and company policies.
• Lead the site Security Program and support safety, health, and Contractor Safety programs.
• Implement Process Safety Management and administer the Management of Change program.
• Investigate accidents, injuries, and occupational illnesses, identify root causes, and lead preventive actions.
• Coordinate ergonomics, air quality, noise monitoring, safety observations, audits, and safety meetings.
• Lead the safety team, manage the departmental budget, and partner with Operations, Maintenance, Quality, medical professionals, and corporate safety teams.

Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree in Safety and Health, Industrial Hygiene, Science, Engineering, or a related field preferred; relevant experience may substitute.
• At least 3 years of occupational safety and health and/or industrial hygiene experience in an industrial environment.
• Knowledge of OSHA regulations for chemical manufacturing, including Process Safety Management.
• Ability to lead safety initiatives, develop management systems, manage multiple projects, and drive continuous improvement.
• Proficiency with Microsoft Word, Excel, and PowerPoint, plus strong communication and relationship management skills.
• Ability to work in an office, outdoors, and industrial manufacturing environment; lift up to 50 pounds, climb stairs and ladders, and observe and hear facility warning signals.

Nice to have

• Chemical manufacturing experience.
• Certified Safety Professional certification or willingness to pursue it.
