Materials Engineer (Plastics)

What you will do

• Define reliable test protocols for incoming materials, resins, products, and material experiments.
• Perform material testing using FTIR, DSC, TGA, Instron, injection molding, and other laboratory instrumentation.
• Analyze test data and prepare accurate laboratory reports with charts and images.
• Develop and implement test methods for material characterization.
• Coordinate material-development opportunities between ORBIS teams and suppliers.
• Provide technical guidance to engineering, manufacturing, customers, suppliers, and laboratory personnel while supporting continuous quality improvement.

Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree in a science-related field.
• At least 3 years of related laboratory experience.
• Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Excel and working knowledge of Microsoft Office Suite and SAP.
• Ability to perform chemical data analysis and explain complex scientific issues to non-technical audiences.
• Ability to work safely, communicate effectively, assess performance, and coach or develop others.
• Ability to be available outside normal working hours when required.

Nice to have

• Bachelor of Science degree in Chemistry.
• Previous employment with 3 years of related laboratory experience.
