Product Design Engineer II (HVAC)

Location: La Crosse, Wisconsin, United States. Hybrid schedule with onsite work Monday through Thursday and flexible work location on Fridays; overnight travel is less than 5%.

Annual base salary: $65,200–$93,660.

What you will do

• Develop commercial water-to-water HVAC refrigeration systems for heating and cooling that meet performance, regulatory, quality, and cost requirements.
• Review product and internal requirements, assess technical feasibility, select robust components, and create engineering specifications.
• Apply UL, CRN, seismic, ASME, and other applicable codes and standards.
• Create and maintain technical documentation, including reports, laboratory test results, drawings, and specifications.
• Conduct design FMEAs, execute risk mitigation plans, and resolve failure, quality, and reliability issues.
• Lead and support cross-functional projects, providing technical guidance to laboratories, manufacturing engineering, suppliers, technical service, and operations.

Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering or an equivalent discipline.
• 3–5 years of engineering or product design experience.
• Detailed understanding of HVAC systems, including refrigeration, heat transfer, airflow, and ventilation.
• Strong technical, analytical, problem-solving, communication, and decision-making skills.
• Ability to deliver and lead technical designs and work effectively on cross-functional product engineering teams.
• Ability to work onsite in La Crosse, Wisconsin, Monday through Thursday.

Nice to have

• Master’s degree in Engineering.
• Experience with GD&T, UL, CRN, seismic requirements, ASME BPVC, CAD, FEA, structural analysis, and computer simulation tools.
