Lead Product Design Engineer (HVAC)

Location: La Crosse, Wisconsin, United States. Hybrid schedule with onsite work Monday through Thursday; Fridays offer flexibility to choose the work location. Overnight travel is less than 5%.

Annual base salary: $123,721.66–$173,004.99.

What you will do

• Lead the development of commercial water-to-water HVAC refrigeration systems for heating and cooling applications.
• Evaluate technical feasibility, select robust and cost-effective components, and define engineering specifications.
• Lead product validation testing, DFMEA, risk mitigation, FRACAS/8D investigations, and root-cause analysis for quality and reliability issues.
• Establish compliance strategies and apply ASME BPVC, UL, CRN, and Seismic IBC/OSHPD requirements.
• Create and maintain technical reports, laboratory test results, drawings, specifications, and other engineering documentation.
• Coordinate cross-functional engineering work packages, provide technical guidance to laboratories, manufacturing, suppliers, and operations, and mentor junior engineers.

Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering and at least 8 years of engineering or product design experience.
• Detailed knowledge of HVAC functions, including refrigeration, heat transfer, airflow, ventilation, and chilled and hot water systems.
• Strong technical, analytical, problem-solving, communication, collaboration, and technical leadership skills.
• Ability to lead designs, interpret customer and product requirements, and work independently on complex engineering problems.
• Experience with regulatory standards such as UL, CRN, Seismic IBC/OSHPD, and ASME BPVC is preferred.
• Experience with CAD, FEA, structural analysis, computer simulation, and GD&T is preferred.

• Master’s degree in Engineering.
• Professional Engineering license.
