Patient Access Associate Specialist (Healthcare)

Location: Onsite at Mercy - St Elizabeth Boardman Hospital in Boardman, Ohio; candidates must reside and be authorized to work in the United States. Schedule: Full-time, 4:00 p.m.–12:30 a.m. and 2:30 p.m.–11:00 p.m. shifts, including every other weekend.

Salary: $17.00–$18.15 per hour, based on experience.

What you will do

• Perform admitting and pre-registration duties for hospital patients.
• Assign accurate medical record numbers, collect demographic and insurance information, and process physician orders.
• Verify insurance eligibility, select plan codes, enter benefit data, and support point-of-service collections and clean claims.
• Screen medical necessity using ABN software and distribute required Medicare, Tricare, observation, consent, and patient education forms.
• Explain treatment and financial forms, obtain signatures, discuss payment plans, and provide compassionate customer service.
• Audit accounts, correct documentation, operate the telephone switchboard, and provide reporting data to Patient Access leadership.

Requirements

• At least 1 year of customer service experience.
• High school diploma or GED required.
• Inquisitive approach and openness to innovation, including AI-enabled process improvements.
• CRCR certification required within 6 months of hire; certification is company-paid.
• Must work onsite at the Boardman, Ohio hospital and reside in and be authorized to work in the United States.
