Corporate Counsel, Privacy Compliance (AI)

Location: Oakland, California; Atlanta, Georgia; Mountain View, California; or New York, New York, United States

Base pay: $173,500–$234,500 in New York; $198,500–$268,500 in Oakland and Mountain View. Atlanta compensation is based on job-related factors and work location.

What you will do

• Manage the privacy risk and impact assessments program, including governance, workflows, and compliance with CCPA automated decision-making regulations.
• Own and evolve data subject rights compliance across the United States and global markets under CCPA, US state privacy laws, GDPR, and other frameworks.
• Improve privacy compliance tooling and processes, including automation for assessments, risk reviews, and data subject rights fulfillment.
• Advise on privacy-by-design principles, data minimization, purpose limitation, transparency, and customer choice for new technologies.
• Translate changing privacy and AI regulations into scalable frameworks, playbooks, training, and program updates.
• Partner with Legal, Product, Engineering, and Business teams to provide practical risk guidance and align on outcomes.

Requirements

• 4+ years of relevant legal experience in-house and/or at a law firm.
• Strong knowledge of US state and federal privacy laws, including CCPA/CPRA and GLBA, plus familiarity with GDPR and PIPEDA.
• Experience building, operating, or maturing privacy programs.
• Working fluency with AI and emerging technologies, including the ability to discuss data flows, system design, and engineering trade-offs with technical stakeholders.
• Ability to convert complex legal and regulatory requirements into practical, scalable policies, frameworks, and guidelines.
• JD and active membership in at least one US State Bar required; role is based in one of the listed US locations.

Nice to have

• IAPP privacy or AI certification such as CIPP/US, CIPP/E, or AIGP.
• Experience with AI governance, model risk, or responsible AI programs.
• Familiarity with privacy compliance tooling, PIA workflow platforms, DSR fulfillment systems, or data mapping tools.
