Interim Associate or Senior Solid Earth Editor (Geophysics)

Salary: Minimum €41,500 for Associate Editor or €55,000 for Senior Editor in Milan, Italy

What you will do

• Assess original research manuscripts and oversee peer review.
• Make editorial decisions based on expert advice and scientific evaluation.
• Contribute to the scientific content and editorial strategy of Nature Geoscience.
• Commission and edit reviews, editorials, and other scientific content.
• Collaborate with Nature Portfolio editors and experts in the international scientific community.
• Attend conferences and visit research institutions.

Requirements

• PhD or equivalent qualification in geophysics or a related field.
• Thorough understanding of recent trends and developments in geophysics.
• Ability to assess the novelty, context, and implications of research across the discipline.
• Fluent English in written and spoken communication.
• Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with a broad interest in scientific research.
• Willingness to travel and meet scientists worldwide.

Nice to have

• Knowledge of seismology, tectonics, geodynamics, natural hazards, glaciology, or geomorphology.
• Additional research experience.
• Editorial experience, particularly for consideration for a Senior Editor position.
