Engineer Diver / Associate Marine Engineer (Marine Engineering)

Location: Hybrid work from the New York, NY and Florham Park, NJ offices, supporting projects in the NYC metropolitan area

What you will do

• Perform above- and underwater inspections of piers, wharves, bulkheads, seawalls, revetments, and other marine and coastal infrastructure.
• Collect and document field conditions using measurements, sketches, destructive and non-destructive testing equipment, point cloud models, and emerging technologies.
• Prepare detailed inspection reports and support rehabilitation and new construction design documents.
• Develop design calculations for load ratings, service life analysis, and rehabilitation details.
• Assist with dive safety planning, equipment maintenance, dive record tracking, training events, and small-boat operations.
• Coordinate field activities with clients, contractors, and regulatory agencies, including waterfront construction oversight.

Requirements

• 0–5 years of relevant professional inspection or design experience.
• Bachelor’s degree in civil, structural, ocean, coastal, or related engineering from an ABET-accredited program.
• ADCI Entry Level Tender/Diver Certification and an Engineer in Training or Engineer Intern certificate.
• Current commercial dive physical meeting ADCI Consensus Standards requirements.
• Current OSHA 10, First Aid, CPR, AED, O2 Provider, and Bloodborne Pathogens certifications.
• Valid TWIC or ability to obtain one before employment, a valid driver’s license, and an acceptable driving record.
• Ability and willingness to travel, work outdoors in variable weather and water conditions, support overnight travel and non-standard hours, and pass pre-employment and periodic drug and alcohol screening.

Nice to have

• ADCI Air Diver certification and a master’s degree in a related engineering discipline.
• Professional Engineering license in New York and/or New Jersey.
• Waterfront inspection experience under ASCE MOP 130, the NYCEDC Waterfront Inspection Manual, or PANYNJ standards.
• Experience with underwater non-destructive testing, point cloud modeling, hydrographic surveys, asset databases, or structural analysis software.
• Knowledge of AutoCAD, Civil 3D, Revit, ArcGIS Pro, boat operations, OSHA 30, or HAZWOPER 40-hour certification.
