Staff Data Engineer (Sponsored Content & Products)

What you will do

• Design, build, and maintain high-throughput Reverse ETL replication pipelines connecting central platform systems with client-facing reporting tools.
• Evaluate data structures and select suitable storage and processing technologies, including MySQL, OpenSearch, BigQuery, and ClickHouse.
• Lead the migration of custom data-processing pipelines to a modern, scalable architecture through secure transition steps.
• Define performant physical and logical data models with Backend and Analytics Engineers.
• Improve operational excellence through monitoring, reliability engineering, telemetry, and application health management.
• Set engineering standards and evaluate architectural and technical trade-offs.

Requirements

• 5+ years of professional experience in data platform engineering and 7+ years of total professional engineering experience.
• Strong Python skills for custom data loading logic, validation drivers, and cluster-executed synchronization utilities.
• Expertise in automated, event-driven batch architectures, state tracking, asset sensors, and task dependency graphs.
• Advanced knowledge of relational and analytical databases, including MySQL transaction isolation and query tuning, ClickHouse, OpenSearch, and BigQuery.
• Experience with resource monitoring, pipeline runtime logging, and centralized alerts using platforms such as Datadog.
• Strong communication, autonomous ownership, pragmatic problem solving, and collaboration with infrastructure teams.

Nice to have

• Experience with Dagster or similar modern data orchestrators.
• Working knowledge of dbt.
• Experience in e-commerce, retail technology, or ad-tech.
• Ability to read object-oriented PHP and Laravel code.
