Senior Data Engineer (Microsoft Fabric)

Location: Berlin or Oslo; duty stations may also include NRC representation offices except Geneva and Washington, DC, approved Employer of Record countries, and other countries where NRC operates within ±2 hours of Oslo time.

What you will do

• Build and optimize scalable data pipelines and ETL processes in Microsoft Fabric across data lakes and data warehouses.
• Design and continuously improve data infrastructure, governance, standards, and secure data sharing.
• Integrate internal and external data and develop Microsoft-based solutions using Azure and Power Apps outside Fabric's scope.
• Architect high-performance data systems for large-scale organizational requirements.
• Implement data validation, monitoring, and error-handling processes to ensure data accuracy and integrity.
• Collaborate with program managers, field staff, analysts, data product managers, and other stakeholders to translate operational needs into data solutions.

Requirements

• 5+ years of experience shipping and maintaining production code.
• Bachelor's degree in computer science, software engineering, or a related field, or demonstrable equivalent expertise.
• Experience with Microsoft Fabric or other Microsoft reporting tools, data architecture, and data modeling.
• Strong Python, relational database, and nonrelational data experience, including MySQL, PostgreSQL, JSON, query optimization, debugging, and safe migration scripts.
• Knowledge of API design and security, with basic DevOps familiarity and experience working in Agile environments.
• Fluent written and spoken English required; the role must be performed within ±2 hours of Oslo time.

Nice to have

• Experience with enterprise information systems, especially ERP and CRM platforms.
• Familiarity with Microsoft infrastructure beyond Fabric, including Azure and Power Apps.
• Knowledge of additional languages.
