Senior Firmware Test Engineer (Medical Devices)

What you will do

• Design, develop, document, and execute pre-DVT and formal Design Verification Testing for firmware across commercial products and clinical studies.
• Build and maintain automated test infrastructure and expand continuous regression coverage.
• Develop and bring up test tools and methods with cross-functional engineering teams.
• Read and modify bare-metal or RTOS firmware to debug issues, add test hooks, and implement validation features.
• Verify electrical stimulation waveforms, BLE communications, OTA-DFU fault handling, sensor measurements, and logging.
• Support risk analyses, requirements development, design reviews, DHF deliverables, and AI-assisted test and documentation workflows.

Requirements

• BS or MS in Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, Computer Science, or an equivalent field.
• 5–7+ years of experience in embedded firmware testing and design verification.
• Strong understanding of hardware, firmware, and software interactions at the system level.
• Proficiency in C/C++ and Python, including the ability to read, modify, and add test hooks to embedded firmware.
• Experience with product requirements, formal DVT, test protocols, test reports, troubleshooting, root cause analysis, and hardware debugging tools such as oscilloscopes.
• Medical device development experience under Design Controls, with familiarity with IEC 62304, IEC 60601, and ISO 13485.

• Experience working with external laboratories on EMC, safety, and FCC regulatory testing.
• Experience supporting devices used in human clinical studies or regulated research.
• Experience testing embedded devices with companion mobile apps, desktop tools, or cloud services.
