Senior Mobile Engineer - Instrumentation SDK (iOS)

Location: Remote; applicants currently based in Spain, Ireland, Germany, the UK, or Sweden

Salary: £91,000–£114,000 per year in the UK, plus Restricted Stock Units (RSUs)

What you will do

• Build and evolve high-performance, low-overhead instrumentation SDKs for iOS using Swift and Objective-C.
• Design and ship features for session tracking, crash reporting, sampling, automatic context propagation, and OpenTelemetry integration.
• Own projects end to end, breaking ambiguous problems into modular deliverables, MVPs, and iterative releases.
• Improve quality through automated tests, CI, documentation, and backward-compatible upgrade paths.
• Collaborate with backend, frontend, product, and solutions engineering to deliver cohesive observability workflows.
• Review open-source pull requests, participate in technical design, mentor teammates, and help shape the mobile observability roadmap.

Requirements

• Strong professional experience with iOS, Swift, and Objective-C; Android experience with Kotlin or Java is optional.
• Experience building or maintaining mobile SDKs, platform libraries, or developer-facing platform code used by external developers.
• Experience with performance-sensitive code, including startup time, memory usage, and network efficiency.
• Familiarity with OpenTelemetry instrumentation, SDKs, collectors, or similar telemetry libraries.
• Ability to work autonomously and collaboratively in a fully remote, globally distributed team.
• Strong written and verbal communication, documentation, mentoring, customer focus, and ability to navigate ambiguity.

Nice to have

• Contributions to OpenTelemetry, crash reporting libraries, or other observability open-source projects.
• Experience with React Native, Flutter, or native bindings and bridges.
• Experience with mobile security, privacy, crash aggregation, session replay, or mobile telemetry sampling.
