Manager, Software Engineering (POS)

What you will do

• Lead, coach, and develop software engineering teams responsible for POS and store systems across the full product lifecycle.
• Define the engineering roadmap and technical architecture for POS applications, services, APIs, integrations, and supporting platforms.
• Guide solution evaluation, technical design, architecture and code reviews, testing strategy, release planning, production support, and continuous improvement.
• Partner with Product, Store Operations, Architecture, Cyber Security, Infrastructure, vendors, and business stakeholders to deliver secure and scalable solutions.
• Drive cloud-native modernization, CI/CD automation, Infrastructure as Code, containerized deployments, automated testing, observability, disaster recovery, and operational readiness.
• Establish engineering KPIs and OKRs while presenting delivery outcomes, investment needs, risks, and technical recommendations to senior leadership.

Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree with 12+ years of experience or a master’s degree with 10+ years of experience in computer science.
• 12+ years of software engineering experience and 5+ years of engineering leadership experience, including enterprise-scale organizations.
• Expertise in enterprise architecture, distributed systems, microservices, event-driven architecture, integration patterns, and secure software development.
• Advanced experience with cloud, DevOps, CI/CD, Infrastructure as Code, observability, platform engineering, and automated testing.
• Experience leading transaction-oriented software supporting high volume, low latency, and high availability requirements.
• Strong leadership, stakeholder and vendor management, budget ownership, strategic planning, and executive communication skills.

Nice to have

• Experience in retail, store technology, POS, self-checkout, payments, or distributed field operations.
• Experience modernizing legacy POS or store systems to cloud-native architectures.
• Experience leading large-scale data or application migrations with near-zero downtime.
• Experience working with enterprise product teams, store operations, vendors, and cross-functional technology organizations.
