Cash Application Specialist

What you will do

• Process and accurately apply high-volume customer payments from lockboxes, ACH transfers, wire payments, checks, and credit card portals.
• Review remittance advice and payment documentation to match receipts with outstanding invoices.
• Balance daily cash receipts against bank deposits and resolve short-payments, discounts, shortages, and tax disputes.
• Investigate unapplied or unidentified cash, clean customer accounts, and apply old credits to open balances.
• Support Accounts Receivable Collections, Customer Service, Credit & Collections, and Sales in resolving account issues.
• Support month-end close, maintain audit documentation, and recommend process improvements for cash application accuracy and efficiency.

Requirements

• At least 2 years of experience in cash application, accounts receivable, or a related accounting function.
• Associate’s degree or equivalent work experience.
• Strong understanding of accounts receivable processes and customer payment methods.
• Proficiency with ERP or accounting systems and Microsoft Excel.
• Ability to work independently, meet daily deadlines, and maintain a high level of accuracy and urgency.

• Experience working with large distributors such as Amazon, Grainger, or Home Depot.
