Senior AI Developer

Location: Dahlgren, Virginia; must be local to the work location, with flexibility for occasional telework.

Salary: $106,480.81–$185,149.47 annually.

What you will do

• Develop and modify software applications from requirements specifications.
• Design, code, benchmark, test, debug, document, and sustain application features.
• Develop AI-enabled capabilities supporting cyber situational awareness, command and control, mission assurance, and homeland defense.
• Implement retrieval-augmented generation workflows, context engineering processes, and AI agent integrations.
• Conduct performance, load, stress, security, and enterprise application assessments.
• Participate in the complete application lifecycle within an agile team, including planning, implementation, testing, deployment, and sustainment.

Requirements

• Active Secret clearance and ability to obtain and maintain a TS/SCI clearance.
• DoDD 8140.01 Information Assurance Management Level I certification or higher.
• Bachelor’s degree with 8–10 years of experience, master’s degree with 6–8 years, or PhD with 3–5 years.
• Professional experience with Python and software applications that interface with AI systems.
• Experience with AI workflow frameworks such as Haystack, LangChain, or LlamaIndex; retrieval-augmented generation; and context engineering.
• Experience developing MCP servers, evaluating AI model performance, defining AI agent instructions, and managing AI implementation costs.
