Vehicle Maintenance Technician Advanced (Heavy Goods Vehicles)

Location: Lodge Trading Estate, Exeter, England EX5 3DY, United Kingdom; onsite role

Salary: £24.93 per hour base pay, plus £2.68 per hour for work between 7pm and 10pm and £3.24 per hour for work between 10pm and 6am.

What you will do

• Service and maintain the company fleet of heavy goods vehicles and trailers according to planned maintenance schedules.
• Complete service records, inspection records, defect reports, and related legal documentation.
• Prepare vehicles and trailers for annual MOT testing to support first-time passes.
• Investigate and repair vehicle defects, including ad-hoc repairs.
• Use tools, plant, testing equipment, and ancillary equipment safely and effectively.
• Advise operational departments on equipment availability and maintain good housekeeping standards.

Requirements

• Fully skilled vehicle technician with applicable licences or vocational training, such as an LGV C&E Class 1 licence.
• City & Guilds Parts 1 and 2, or an equivalent qualification in commercial vehicle repairs.
• Knowledge of automotive equipment and testing or troubleshooting equipment.
• Previous experience in a similar vehicle maintenance role.
• Experience with welding and basic DC electrical troubleshooting.
• Ability to lift and manoeuvre heavy vehicle components and hold a valid driving licence.
