TL;DR
Audio Visual Engineer (Professional AV Systems/Live Events): Designing, installing, configuring, and maintaining complex audio-visual systems and delivering live events across a university campus with an accent on professional audio, video, control systems, networked AV, and live streaming. Focus on leading technical planning, producing detailed AV documentation, coordinating resources, and solving complex operational and safety challenges.

Location: Oxford Road, Manchester, United Kingdom. On-campus role. Applicants must have the right to work in the UK; Skilled Worker visa sponsorship is not available.

The hirify.global provides teaching, learning, research, events, and university-wide services through its Media Services and Campus Technology Services teams.

What you will do

  • Lead the technical planning and delivery of complex live events, advising clients and coordinating staff and equipment.
  • Consult with internal and external clients to define requirements, design AV systems, and deliver solutions within budget.
  • Produce system schematics, cable schedules, programming requirements, and graphical user interface configurations.
  • Install, configure, maintain, repair, and commission professional AV systems across university spaces.
  • Procure AV equipment in line with university policies, legislation, and value-for-money requirements.
  • Provide guidance and training to Audio-Visual Support Technicians, research new technologies, and support safe working practices.

Requirements

  • Degree or RQF Level 6 equivalent professional qualification in media, audio-visual technology, or a related discipline, or relevant professional industry experience.
  • Confidence working with professional audio-visual and IT technologies.
  • Strong communication, customer service, problem-solving, planning, workload management, prioritisation, and collaboration skills.
  • Experience leading the technical aspects of live events, producing AV documentation, or installing professional AV systems is valuable.
  • Experience in a higher education environment is valuable.
  • Applicants must demonstrate the right to work in the UK.
